About the Chef

The woman behind Earthwise is me, Chef Lynne Forte. I'd like to share some of my story with you since we'll spend most of our getting-acquainted interview talking about you.

Cooking was not my first calling. I began my professional life as a high school French and Italian teacher. French graduate studies led me to France where I remained for five years. Sampling the sumptuous flavors of foods grown in the rich, French soil imbued me with new taste standards.

Upon my return to the U.S., I entered the French and American corporate world in New York City. One thing led to another, and after many years, I left the corporate world to enroll in Manhattan's Natural Gourmet Cookery School, trading my business garb for a chef coat and apron. I haven't looked back.

My interest in high quality food and healthful living began more than three decades ago. Over the years, I've studied and implemented diverse dietary models ranging from vegetarianism to the South Beach Diet. I love introducing my family, friends, and clients to new food concepts, or simply delighting them with a healthier version of the traditional flavors they enjoy. Whether cooking for individuals, couples, families, or special events, I always feel inspired by my work and connected to the Earth.

In addition to my chef diploma, I hold the National Restaurant Association's ServSave Certificate for food sanitation and safety, as well as the Culinary Business Academy's Personal Chef Certificate. I'm also a member of the United States Personal Chef Association, The Chefs Collaborative, and the Weston Price Foundation. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Southern Connecticut State College, and a Master of Arts degree in French Modern Letters from Middlebury College. I currently reside in Fairfield County.
